In the show “Estampas flamencas”, Rubén Olmo and Miguel Ángel Corbacho have created four captivating pieces that are inspired by the style, aesthetics and artistic essence of Antonio Ruiz Soler. These choreographies travel through traditional flamenco, exploring its roots in both costume and music.
“Hijo del alba”, a moving solo inspired by Picasso, masterfully interpreted by Rubén Olmo with his distinctive dance language, represents the birth of a new life: a man and artist emerge in this unique character, the harlequin, who encapsulates feelings, differences and contradictions.
As a finishing touch, “El sombrero de tres picos”, one of the most emblematic works in the repertoire of the Ballet Nacional de España, will be presented. Both the captivating score by Manuel de Falla, on this occasion performed by the talented Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid under the baton of maestro Manuel Coves, and the brilliant choreography by Antonio Ruiz Soler, are authentic masterpieces that stylize and enhance popular rhythms and dances. This production also recovers the dazzling costumes and reproduces the impressive backdrops and scenery designed by the genius Pablo Picasso for the London premiere in 1919 of Léonide Massine’s version of Serge Diaghilev’s famous Ballets Russes.
