We all recognize the sound that this characteristic instrument creates. But few of us are aware of its curious origins.<\/p>\n

The castanets, also known as\u00a0palillos<\/strong><\/em>, are born with the Phoenicians<\/strong>. This culture, which would later establish itself in\u00a0Andalusia,<\/strong>\u00a0named this instrument as\u00a0cro\u0301tolas. <\/strong>They were handmade creations<\/strong> made from any type of wood, which were used to celebrate. Any reason for celebration<\/strong> was a perfect excuse for the Phoenicians to take out the castanets. In Addition to Flamenco, castanets are used for many regional dances in Spain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
